Since Julie doesn't know how to post from the cell phone, which Debbie left with her, this update is being routed from Bellingham. While the group is on the Kenai Peninsula they will not have Internet connections so updates with pictures won't resume until later.

Monday, July 9th, the caravan made it to Anchorage. They did a lot of shopping and Kevin went fishing with Randy, our brother, and got a chance to catch some halibut. Pictures will follow later.

Sunday, July 15th, Debbie and Kevin flew home as they had to return to work on Monday the 16th. Debbie will return to Anchorage on the 28th to join back with the caravan for the drive home. Unfortunately Kevin doesn't get to come back with her.

Once Debbie and Kevin were dropped off at the airport the caravan headed to Portage. They stayed there for a couple nights so Marlene and Felicitas could take the boat up to see Portage Glacier. The first time mom and dad came to Alaska the glacier could be seen from the road but over the past several years it has receded back so you have to take a boat to see it now.

From Portage they continued on to Soldotna, then down the Kenai Peninsula to Deep Creek. Here they stayed on the beach where mom and dad used to stay when they would come to Alaska to go fishing. At the beach there is a breeze that comes off the water and you can actually be outside without getting eaten alive by bugs.

Saturday, the group headed down to Anchor Point where Randy has some land. Randy has taken a week off and will be able to take dad and Julie fishing while the ladies go shopping with his wife Judee. They will return to Anchorage by the 28th in order to pick Debbie up at the airport.

Sooo, even though the blog hasn't had much activity the caravan has. Pictures of these adventures will be posted as soon as Internet connections become available.

Debbie and Julie,
What an adventure. Carol forwarded you blog to me and I have been following your trip. How cool. Hope the rest of the trip goes well. I wish Dad would have gone. He is so hard to get to do anything new. Oh well, at 87 maybe I will be that way too. Take care and keep the pictures coming . Love It Love Lynn
